Our Story
The seed for StorytellART was planted many years ago during a time I was devoted full-time to motherhood. I have always believed that everyone is an artist. To me, art is a deeply human practice, a means for an artist to translate her inner world into something that can be seen, felt, and shared.
My grandparents immigrated from Japan, and I was born and raised in Brazil, a vibrant tapestry of cultures, colors, and stories. Later, I lived in the United States, Switzerland and Canada, soaking up the art and creative energy that surrounded me in each place. Yet wherever I experienced art, whether in museums, galleries or public spaces, I often found myself longing to know more. Who was the artist? What was the story behind the artwork?
I believe we choose to bring an artwork into our lives when we feel a genuine connection to it. And that connection is sparked by a story, a shared thread between the artist and the viewer. StorytellART was created to share the work of female and non-binary artists, the stories behind their art, and their creative processes. It is our hope that through these stories you will discover pieces that resonate with you, and perhaps see your own story reflected in them.
