Katy Biele
Katy was born and raised in Chile, and is currently based in Victoria, BC. She works with painting, watercolor and embroidery, often combining them to create textured, expressive pieces that explore themes of identity and belonging.
A central theme in her practice is the idea of home, shaped by her experience of living between Chile and Canada. This personal and cultural duality informs her use of materials, color and form, allowing her to reflect on movement, memory, and connection.
Katy’s work has been shown internationally, including at the Textile Museum of Canada and the National Museum of Singapore. She was a finalist in the Salt Spring National Art Prize (2023/2024), receiving 3rd Place in the People’s Choice Award. Her most recent installation was exhibited at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario.
